Should I Be a Public Speaker to Write a Persuasive Essay?
You have to write a persuasive essay but you have never been proficient in the art of persuasion? Do not worry! It is possible to write a great persuasive essay even if you have never won a single argument with your friends.
What you should remember, is that writing a persuasive essay does not require you to be a public speaker. You should only possess some writing skills that will help you arrange your ideas into persuasive words.
Things you should remember about a persuasive essay
- Take a definite stand on the issue. Identify whether you agree or disagree with the topic of your persuasive essay. What about your audience? Think of what you will have to persuade it in.
- Check whether your thesis is right. Your thesis should present both sides of the issue you will be discussing in your persuasive essay. You then choose one side and explain why you did this.
- Always support your ideas with evidence. Your persuasive essay should not only sound persuasive. Use only verified information in it! Be sure to support your ideas with statistics (or other numerical data) or at least with the quotes from the reliable sources. This will make your persuasive essay easy to believe in.
- Do not forget about examples. To be persuasive, you will have to prove your audience that you are right. Real-life examples will help you to do this!
- Pay attention to the opposite argument. Your persuasive essay should also explain why you do not agree with the opposite view regarding the problem you discuss. Disprove this view. For this, try to find mistakes or inconsistencies within it.
Hopefully, now writing a persuasive essay is not a problem for you. Follow these recommendations and be confident when proving that you are right!
